EDS was established in Italy in 1994. With its offices across all Italy, EDS has today approximately 3.300 employees. Its portfolio is focused on: IT outsourcing and transformation services and Business Process outsourcing services (BPO). Recently EDS has been choosen for the testing of the electronic vote in Italy and has recorded great success implementing those activities.

Since the beginning EDS has positioned itself as a qualified partner in the privatisation and streamlining processes characterizing the Italian market since 1994, when it first signed an important 10-year contract with Gruppo INA, today Gruppo Generali.

In 1997, renewed at the beginning of 2005, EDS won the Ministry of Education tender-competition for the implementation and management of the central and peripheral technological infrastructure, as well as the Ministry's administrative services.

Under this agreement EDS manages the technological infrastructure of one of the world's most important energy groups.

In February 1999, actually still on going, EDS won the AIPA public tender for cross-operative service provision (electronic business and business process management) to all central public administrations. Such solutions may also be provided to all local public administrations.
